That don’t sound right!

A few days ago, Turner Classic Movies ren “Wind Across the Everglades” with Gypsy Rose Lee.  That reminded me of the song Say, Has Anybody Seen My Sweet Gypsy Rose by Tony Orlando and Dawn.

Oh, say has anybody seen my
Sweet Gypsy Rose?
Here's her picture when she was my
Sweet Mary Jo
Now she's got rings on her fingers
And bells on her ...

ON HER WHAT?

Not that I would have any personal experiences to draw on, but I think strippers wear heals not bells.

Now  Ahab the Arab’s flame Fatima had ...
Rings on her fingers and
Bells on her toes and a bone in her nose ho, ho

The girl Jimmy Gilmer was entranced by at the Sugar Shack wore …
A black leotard
And her feet are bare

But I’m pretty sure Gypsy Rose would have worn heels and if it’s referring to Gypsy Rose Lee, her name wasn’t Mary Jo but I guess Rose Louise was harder to rhyme.
