The Movie Classic That Might Have Starred Mick Jagger

"A Clockwork Orange" is the movie that made Malcolm McDowell a star. But it might have been a very different film if a rock star had gotten his way. McDowell says he used to hang out with the Rolling Stones and the Beatles back in his native Britain and claims Rolling Stones' front man Mick Jagger had wanted to play the lead role in the film.

It didn't happen, but you can only imagine what the classic might have been like had that come to pass.

During a festival in Italy, McDowell also revealed Paul McCartney had expressed a desire to do the entire soundtrack to one of his lesser films, a movie called "The Raging Moon." But the Beatles had just broken up and McCartney later told him he was too distraught - and drunk - to make it happen. “He would have made the movie a hit!” McDowell added. “As it was, it sank like a stone.”

McDowell says Jagger also told him he didn't want to be doing the group touring thing past the age of 50. We all know how far past that limit he's gone!

McDowell hasn't completely disappeared from the screen. He currently stars in a Canadian TV show called "Son Of A Critch" that airs on the CBC.
