Buzz Cason - one half of the song writing duo that composed Everlasting Love has passed.
Mr. Cason penned Everlasting Love along with writing partner Mac Gaydon in 1967 & an artist named Robert Knight recorded the first version of the tune the same year enjoying moderate success. Fast forward 7 years to 1974 when Carl Carlton released his version of Everlasting Love receiving wide radio air play. U2 and Gloria Estefan have also released versions of the song. But it's the Carl Carlton disc that remains the gold standard.
It was one of my favourite tunes from the 70's
Nashville native James "Buzz" Cason was 84

Great Stuff! In the session, Buzz mentioned his hit "Look for a Star", under the name of Garry Miles. I'd never heard it, but found it on YouTube. It's on my playlist, and is actually the first song in the rotation. As I mentioned elsewhere, I'll watch all seven volumes of "Rock & Roll Graffiti" and the two additional behind the scenes DVD's over the course of two days at least once a year. It is so uplifting!

Buzz also sang a bunch of songs on the Nashville-based HIT records label (remakes) under various names.
Regarding "Everlasting Love", Carl' Carlton's version was first released in 1973. Hard to fathom it was a B side. But then he released another version in 1974 as an A side which became the #6 U.S. hit.
