This is, admittedly, an impossible choice: who was better in your mind - The Wrecking Crew or The Funk Brothers?
For those who don't know, the Wrecking Crew was a group of background session musicians who played on hundreds of huge hit records during the 60s and 70s.
The Funk Brothers made the music on many Motown hits and - beyond Holland, Dozier, Holland - are probably responsible for more hits on that legendary label than just about anyone else.
Here's a look at just some of each group's output.
WRECKING CREW FUNK BROTHERS
He's A Rebel Come See About Me
I Get Around I Heard It Through The Grapevine
You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin' Ain't No Mountain High Enough
Mr. Tambourine Man Ain't Too Proud To Beg
This Diamond Ring For Once In My Life
California Dreamin' Higher and Higher
I Got You Babe I Can't Get Next To You
These Boots Are Made For Walkin' Just My Imagination
River Deep Mountain High Me & Mrs. Jones
Strangers In The Night Papa Was A Rolling Stone
Wichita Lineman (Reach Out) I'll Be There
The Boxer What Becomes Of The Brokenhearted?
Bridge Over Troubled Water You Can't Hurry Love
Those are only a few of dozens and dozens of examples.
It's almost impossible to choose and maybe it's not a fair question. But in a battle for supremacy, which one would you pick as the best of all time?

My wife and I have been spending some time re-watching some of our favorite series (often too hot & humid to enjoy the outdoors). One of them is The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel - highly recommended, on Prime, if you haven't seen it.
In season 3, Midge is on tour with Shy Baldwin. In his band is a bass player (Carole Keen) who clearly is meant to pay tribute to Carol Kaye, bass player in the Wrecking Crew (check pictures below). Interestingly, Carol Kaye was not impressed with the inclusion of a character based on herself - see link to article below.
