The story behind "Twist & Shout" is pretty well known, but if you've never heard it, it's recounted here. It was the end of a marathon session that resulted in some of the Beatles' biggest early hits being recorded all in one day.
"They closed the session with a cover of 'Twist and Shout', just before the studio's 10pm closing time. John's cold was taking its toll and the song's rasping lead vocal took it out of him. About that, he said: "The last song nearly killed me. My voice wasn't the same for a long time after; every time I swallowed, it was like sandpaper."
