I saw this on my local radio board and figured it should get a mention here. American Masters is doing a two hour show about activist and singer Janis Ian. Even though she only had two big hits - the often banned "Society's Child" in the 60s and "At Seventeen" in the 70s - she has quite a story to tell.
The show can air at various times across the U.S., (it's on June 20th at 9 PM on the PBS affiliate where I live) but if it interests you, check, as they say, your local listings. And be sure to look for alternate show times, because it's usually rerun in non-primetime slots on many PBS stations.

aflem - thank you, thank you, thank you!!
Investigated broadcast here in Alaska: Friday, June 20th, 8 PM (9 PM PDT) and have it set to record on my DVR.
I remember when she released her first album. November 1967, I was in the BX at Holloman AFB, NM looking for her new album after hearing Society's Child. I still have that vinyl in nearly mint condition. Very talented, under-rated singer/songwriter. I recently purchased her 1995 "Verve Recordings" double album. Super set of tracks.
Thanks again!!
