One half of the synth-pop duo Soft Cell Dave Ball has passed away peacefully at his home in London England

Mr. Ball was the sythesiser/keyboardist whose iconic riff from their 1981 hit Tainted Love remains instantly recognizable

Tainted Love sold 21 million copies worldwide

Dave Ball had sufferd from ill health in recent times and last performed two months ago while in a wheel chair

He was just 66
