Esther Phillips

I didn't know anything about Esther aside from her disco-ish remake of "What A Diff'rence A Day Makes," until I saw this online article from Texas Monthly Magazine. I streamed some of her early recordings and some of her later country stuff, and, wow, she was a force to be reckoned with. She has a fascinating backstory, and she died way too young.https://www.texasmonthly.com/arts-entertainment/esther-phillips-first-lady-of-black-country-music/

Re: Esther Phillips

Thx for the info Roman.  Quite the country/blues/R&B song, like the rest of her stuff.  The only song I have in my music collection is the only song to make the Top, charting #8, Release Me in 1963 and managed to squeeze, again, into the Hot 100 when re-released in 1967.  Voice vaguely like Mae West though I don't think Mae West did any singing.
