She wrote Uptight, I Was Made To Love Her and My Cherie Amour. And chances are you never heard of her. Sylvia Moy was an almost unknown songwriter at Motown in the 60s, who may have saved Stevie Wonder's career at the label.
Her story is fascinating and sad at the same time, because she worked at a time when men got all the credit. In this story, (from National Geographic for some reason) she finally gets her due.
The female songwriter who saved Stevie Wonder's career

WOW! This is a "gotcha." Some people called Berry Gordy (no, I didn't misspell his name) a shrewd businessman, but rarely any of his employees. He payed minimum wages, even his all-stars who signed contracts for next-to-nothing. You want an eye-opener, read "Motown: Music, Money, Sex, and Power" by Gerald Posner (Copyright 2002). I picked up the first edition when it first hit the stands and couldn't put it down. There was a lot in Posner's book and I don't remember anything about Ms Moy.
Thanks for sharing aflem.
