Slowly but surely: last week Sade's "Best of Sade" album squeaked into the Top 10 of Billboard's Top R&B albums for the first time. Yay!!
In 2024, Sade Adu was nominated as an inductee into the R&R Hall Of Fame. Sade's 1984 debut album, Diamond Life, sold over 6 million copies and became "one of the top-selling debut albums of the '80s and the best-selling debut ever of a British female vocalist." (Wikipedia)
I love her easy-listening, smooth, jazzy style, maybe similar to Dionne Warwick, Natalie Cole, Lionel Richie, Sergio Mendes/style. It's stuff you can kick back to, sit in a chair with a soothing drink and get a "natural high."
I hope she eventually gets into the R&R Hall of Fame, despite its "political leaning."
