Fast Train

Yesterday I heard the song Fast Train by April Wine, and I remember really liking it and picking up the single in 1971. I looked it up and found that it only spent three weeks on the CHUM Chart; I thought it was a bigger hit. As I listened to it a couple of other songs popped into my mind...Come On Baby Let's Go Downtown by Crazy Horse and Awaiting On You All (A George Harrison cover) by Silver Hawk. God knows why I remember such obscure numbers because I'm sure they didn't chart here, but I'll bet dollars to doughnuts they were played on the radio at the same time as Fast Train. In case any of you wonder what happened to April Wine, they had a slew of hits in Canada through the early 80's and their last album was in '06. They still play shows from time to time but the only original member is lead singer/guitarist Myles Goodwyn. Myles also put out a good solo blues album last year called Friends of the Blues, which features guitar greats like Rick Derringer.
