ALAN, NOT MICHAEL

Whenever the Jackson name comes up I'm reminded of a sliver of trivia regarding Alan Jackson's "Mercury Blues".      The tune was originally recorded by the K. C. Douglas trio as "Mercury Boogie" and released in 1948!    More trivia - the Ford Motor Company owns the rights (makes sense as they assembled Mercury vehicles for decades).

Re: ALAN, NOT MICHAEL

Over the years I've owned 6 Mercury products, including 3 Grand Marquis, and enjoyed every one of them.  I wish they were still around.

Re: ALAN, NOT MICHAEL

assuming it's the same song, it morphed from boogie to blues long before jackson, as steve miller recorded it as blues in the late 60's. i have it on the "revolution" film soundtrack lp. don't know if it's on a smb record proper, or not.

"Mercury Blues" was on the "Fly Like An Eagle" album.
