I found it astounding that someone actually thought the song "Hound Dog" by Elvis Presley was actually about a dog until I read this story. It's full of fascinating facts about this early rock classic from Leiber and Stoller, who wrote the iconic tune. 

Among the revelations: they wrote the song in 12 minutes - on the back of a paper bag. Both were only 19 years old. The story also contains the remarkable tale of how one of them had the nerve to tell Big Mama Thornton how to sing it, much to her initial anger. And then there's a certain word Leiber wanted in the song that would have not only kept it off the radio then but still would today.
