Tom Shannon, a top jock at CKLW during Golden Era, has died

How many radio personalities can say they dated Ann-Margret, that their show theme song become a Top 10 hit, and that they helped launch “96 Tears” by Question Mark & The Mysterians into the world?
Tom Shannon, a top jock at the “Big 8,” CKLW Detroit-Windsor during its golden era, did all that and more.

Re: Tom Shannon, a top jock at CKLW during Golden Era, has died

I can't say enough how CKLW and all their DJs made my younger and teenage years full.  I do indeed remember Tom Shannon.  I listened to some of each clip and man, talk about taking me back.  It's amazing what AM radio can do to you.  It's a feeling we'll probably never feel again.  May we always have access to recordings of it.

BTW to Tom Diehl...the first clip features Tom playing Great 8 hits from the year before, and Ronnie Dove starts if off by singing "Say You".
