Re: Dusty Hill R.I.P.

Sad news.  I love ZZ Top.  My fave song is  "It's Only Love".

RIP Dusty.

I never heard the Canadian pronunciation of Z used for them on the radio here ... right from the start, announcers knew that they should use the American pronunciation. However, this does bring to mind a famous incident involving legendary news announcer Dick Smyth, who passed away earlier this year. In the early 1980s, CHUM started having its newscasters announce the next song coming out of the news. Smyth never hid the fact that he wasn't into rock music, and that led to a problem one day when someone gave him a handwritten note that the next song was by ZZ Top. He misread their writing, and instead announced the record as being by "22 Top".

zed, zud, zee... it makes no difference. i saw him on top's anniversary tour 3 years ago. he was singing better than ever, and his bass was down in the groove.
