depending upon what was or wasn't being played, except for the time-frame, this may not directly have to do with oldies. however...
on a plane the other day, i met a lady who lived in philly until '76. she said that back then, some neighbourhoods had what she described as "porch concert walks." that is, bands (mostly acoustic ones, or maybe string quartets and the like, i'm guessing, i didn't ask) would set up on various house porches (with the owners' consent of course), and folks would stroll through the 'hood, stopping to listen to the different bands playing up and down the streets.
that sounds like it would be a pretty cool scene. anybody ever heard of, or experienced such a thing?
