Artist Behind Classic Instrumental Oldie Dies At 95

He only had one real hit in North America, but it was a big one."Alley Cat," an instrumental by the wonderfully named Bent Fabric, made it to #7 on Billboard in 1961. The artist, whose real name was Bent Fabricius-Bjerre, was 95.

Re: Artist Behind Classic Instrumental Oldie Dies At 95

"Alley Cat" was in full swing on the charts when I started my pro radio career at KTEO in San Angelo, TX.  I know quite a few of the dance groups of high school girls did their basketball halftime shows using the song back in the early 1960's.  I've always wondered about the Atco label and their success with European instrumentals like "Stranger On The Shore", "Apache" and "Alley Cat".  What was their connection and did they have any others?
