Mickey Gilley Passes.

Country Music star Mickey Gilley passed away on Saturday, May 7.  He landed 42 hits on the C&W Top 40, and four of those made the Hot 100 pop charts, topped by his remake of "Stand By Me", #22 in 1980.  He also used  remakes of several other pop oldies among his C&W hits including "Bring It On Home To Me", "Lawdy Miss Clawdy", "True Love Ways", "Talk To Me" and "You've Really Got A Hold On Me".  He was also famous for his nightclub "Gilley's" in Pasadena, Texas, featured in the John Travolta movie "Urban Cowboy".  I spent one evening in Gilley's back in 1982, listening to a (name withheld) country music star singing one irritating song after another.  Mickey also was a cousin to the legendary Jerry Lee Lewis.
