Sugar Shack's Jimmy Gilmer dies at 83

According to the following obituary, he was believed to have been the most recorded vocalist at Norman Petty Studios in Clovis, New Mexico -- and he joined The Fireballs as a result of having been a session singer there.

Re: Sugar Shack's Jimmy Gilmer dies at 83

Sorry to read this

Bottle of Wine was always one of my favourites from the day it was relased in 1968

And I came to very much appreciate Sugar Shack too.

May Mr. Gilmer rest in peace

The Fireballs did not record two verses of Tom Paxton's original version of Bottle of Wine:
Little hotel, older than Hell
Cold and as dark as a mine
Blanket so thin, I lie there and grin
Buy me little bottle of wine

and

Teacher must teach, and the preacher must preach
Miner must dig in the mine
I ride the rods, trusting in God
And hugging my bottle of wine

When Paxton recorded it himself in 1968
