John Sykes will push diversity, hip-hop for Rock Hall Foundation

CLEVELAND, Ohio — John Sykes thinks big. He always has.
When he was kid, the man who will succeed co-founder Jann Wenner as chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation in January used money from his paper route and his allowance to buy a drum set. Not the one he wanted — Ringo Starr’s Ludwig mother-of-pearl set was far out of his price range — but as close as he could get to it with the budget of a Schenectady, New York, schoolboy.
