Came across this while looking for something else. It's the great story behind one of my favorite oldies, "Ferry Cross The Mersey" by one of my favorite 60s groups, Gerry & The Pacemakers. I love the story of how the opening chords occurred to Gerry Marsden while he was out on a date and he was so afraid he'd forget them that he called his mother to make sure they were recorded somewhere.
Still a great tune.

Nice story. "Ferry Cross The Mersey" is a haunting song that gives me a longing to be there.
