Why The Classic Instrumental "Wipeout" Was Almost Called "Switchblade"

The story behind the Surfaris classic instrumental Wipeout (and that infamous opening laugh) as told by group member Bob Berryhill is fascinating.

Cool story. I've noticed that when I've played Wipeout on Spotify it doesn't have the intro vocal "Wipeout". Anyone know why?

I thought I had read about another version of Wipe Out by The Surfaris in the past, so I did a search to see what I could find. I found the following version that doesn't have the vocal, so I wonder if this could be what you've heard.
