How the Eagles Reluctantly Hit No. 1 With 'Best of My Love'

According to the article, the Eagles wanted a hot rocker released as their next single and had no confidence that this classic would ever even get played on the radio. And they even had to get a well known fellow musician to fly 5,000 miles just to finish the thing.

Three things I take from this article:

1. One of the reasons I've always loved the Eagles is because they were different...had a different sound.
2. One more story of a Michigan DJ playing a record that ends up hitting it big.  Love my home state.
3.  Is there anyone Joni Mitchell hasn't dated?

Gordon Lightfoot was in Detroit in 1967 during the biggest race riots that town has ever seen, which, in part, inspired his Black Day In July song.  While there, at that time, legend has it Mr. Lightfoot was "hanging out" with Joni Mitchell.  Those two "birds of a feather" (Canadian folk-singers) go back a long ways.
