Interview with Richard Carpenter

Richard Carpenter has long been known as one-half of the legendary pop duo, the Carpenters, who were one of the most popular artists on the charts throughout the 1970s and the early ‘80s. The Grammy-winning duo consisted of renowned singer Karen Carpenter (who died in 1983 at the age of 32) and Richard, who was their record producer, one of their songwriters, arranger, pianist, keyboardist and harmony vocalist.

Re: Interview with Richard Carpenter

Thanks for posting this, Lorne.  Always enjoy hearing how artists come up with the ideas and bring them to fruition.  The documentary on The Carpenters (I last saw it on PBS not too long ago) also gives great insight into their music and the tragic health issue that ultimately led to Karen's death.

No question that Karen had one of the most amazing voices ever.  Best evidence of that are "Merry Christmas, Darling" and "Ticket to Ride".
