Meet the folkers: the improbable story of folk rock
Led Zeppelin’s folk-rock credentials may not be uppermost in any assessment of the heavy metal behemoths, but the haunting presence of Fairport Convention singer Sandy Denny on Battle Of Evermore from Led Zeppelin IV as she echoes Robert Plant’s vocals is perhaps the starkest example of folk rock’s impact on British rock music in the 70s.

Thanks Lorne. This kind of fills in a lot of questions I've had about some "missing niches" in the folk-rock genre - my favorite genre from the '60s. I guess I have to rethink what I have read and learned from texts which I've read as somewhat Biblical proportions, including Richie Unterberger's "Turn! Turn! Turn!, The '60e Folkrock Revolution." My library only gives anecdotal, limited mention of Sandy Denny and Led Zeppelin (if ANY), despite the obvious musicological implications of their contributions to the folk-rock scene. Very interesting!!
