Ain't No Mountain High Enough

It was first released by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell in 1967, followed by Diana Ross in 1970 at which time Ross earned her first solo chart smasher in the Hot 100.  Gaye and Terrell only charted #19.  Straw poll time: Which one do you think is the better of the two?

Re: Ain't No Mountain High Enough

I just got done listening to both versions.  I started with Gaye/Terrell.  Great song.  Great job.  Great duo. LOVE Motown and Marvin.  He is one of my favorite vocalists.

Then I listened to Diana.  I'm not sure if it's because to me that song represented her officially leaving the Supremes, so I always found the song sad and haunting.  It's done in such a spectacular way.  Yeah, I know she spoke through most of the song, but she did it with heart.  The background music and the singers add the magic and beauty to the song.

So you can guess I choose Diana Ross' version.

Re: Ain't No Mountain High Enough

Not being a huge fan of Diana after she left the Supremes, my vote goes to Marvin and Tammi.

Marvin and Tammi for sure. I'm not a fan of Diana's voice for the most part.
