Johnny Nash Passes

Johnny Nash who was best known for his early 70's hits Stir It Up and I Can See Clearly Now has passed.

He was 80 years of age & died at his home in Houston Texas.

Can 2020 get any  worse?

Re: Johnny Nash Passes

Johnny did have a pretty good chart run.  I always liked his late 1958 hit "Almost In Your Arms" (#49 in Cashbox).  His other Top 10 hit (besides "I Can See....) was "Hold Me Tight" in 1968.  Don't forget his "The Teen Commandments" where he fell in with Paul Anka and George Hamilton IV and reached #29 in Billboard.

He also went Top 10 in Toronto in early 1970 with his cover of Sam Cooke's 'Cupid'. And yesterday our local roots station had a tribute to him and played a 1985 song of his called 'Rock Me Baby'. It's a real good track that I'd never heard; apparently it did nothing in North America but did find some overseas success.

Re: Johnny Nash Passes

"Cupid" hit the low '30s on the BB & CB & RW charts in late '69.
