Kan Kon

I must have been living under a rock for part of the 80's because I heard 'I Beg Your Pardon' by Kan Kon for the first time this morning. The song is very cool and samples the tag line from Lynn Anderson's 'Rose Garden'.  Did it get much airplay back in the day because I'm wondering how I missed it.

Re: Kan Kon

It was a moderate hit here, but despite the group being Canadian -- and with a name that is a takeoff on our Cancon (Canadian content) radio regulations -- it was actually a bigger hit in many other countries. You can see how it did at the Wikipedia entry below.

Re: Kan Kon

The u.s. 45 came out as Kon Kan. Interesting record.

Re: Kan Kon

It was the same here, actually. Easy for Canadians to flip the name around because of what it's based on.

Thanks for the info. This got me to thinking, I wonder if KLF ripped off Kon Kan when they used Tammy Wynette on Justified & Ancient. I know they had her sing rather than use a sample, but to me the concept and feel of the songs are pretty similar.
