What A Scream

Yesterday I was listening to my 1975 mix tape in the car and on came Emma by Hot Chocolate, which I hadn't heard in a long time. Two things occurred to me: 1) This is a great song, and 2) The lead singer lets out two spectacular screams near the end of the song, which is unexpected in a smooth ballad like this. Man, this guy is hurting. Any other favorite Top 40 screams?

Re: What A Scream

Wow, what a great track. I'd never heard it before, at least, not that I can remember, but it's now added to my latest "must haves".

As far as my favorite "scream", I'd have to give the nod to Bobby Stevens moan/screams on The Checkmates Ltd. "Love Is All I Have To Give".

Re: What A Scream

don't know if  "you're gonna miss me" by the thirteenth floor elevators made it to a qualifying chart position or not, but roky erickson's scream on that one has to qualify, regardless, on somebody's chart. certainly mine, most assuredly...

Re: What A Scream

I'll go with Steven Tyler's screaming in tune in Aerosmith's "Dream On."

Another good one is in GOING ALL THE WAY by The Squires.

Re: What A Scream

How about John Lennon's scream going into the musical bridge of "A Hard Day's Night?" or even "Twist & Shout?"
