I could be losing it BUT, it just dawned on me that the music for both movies is nearly identical. Or am I going deaf? I know Hugo Montenegro & His Orchestra recorded the soundtracks for both movie soundtracks. Please help these near--tone-deaf ears.

The Good, the Bad & the Ugly is a spaghetti western, which relies on guitar.
Hang 'em High is a macaroni western, which relies on flute
Always glad to help

Thx G. I recognize the difference in the instruments, but the melody itself is very similar, or at least appears to be.

given the pasta pay grade likely involved, why would it surprise you that the composer would go out of his way to alter any but lead instuments much? nevermind that it easily helped with some sort of artistic continuity, perhaps.
