Tainted Love

When I was listening  to my faourite soul-jazz radio show on the weekend, the D.J. played Tainted Love by Gloria Jones. I had never heard it before, and I didn't realize that the Soft Cell version was a cover. (I don't get out much).  Soft Cell had a completely different arrangement but, to these ears, another 80's band, Fine Young Cannibals, borrowed the rhythm from Gloria's version for their song 'Good Thing'. Anyone else hear that?

Re: Tainted Love

Definitely. Good Thing by FYC follows it rhythmically. Tainted Love was part of that Northern Soul that became popular in England years later. Gloria married Marc Bolan of T Rex and I think was in the car with him when he passed away.

Re: Tainted Love

Good ear Roman.  Nearly identical.  I have both and never caught that.
