Coming To PBS This Summer: 6-Part "Music Through The Lens" Series

After years of shows about music, groups, eras - including the 60s - comes a new twist. A six-parter about the photography of rock stars from the genre's early years until today. Icon: Music Through The Lens features interviews with rock stars as well as those behind the lens when some of the most famous pictures of them were taken.

From Deadline.com

"The series explores studio portraits, record sleeves, music magazines, live shows, exhibitions, social media, coffee table books and the fine art world, and looks at the future of music photography."

Among the photogs featured is Terry O'Neill, whose camera documented the early years of the Beatles, just as they were becoming famous in Britain.

The show aired last year in The U.K. and comes to PBS this summer. I'm not entirely sure whether this will be as interesting as it sounds, but it's definitely worth a look. (The previews below may help you decide if it's something you want to see.) There's no immediate word on exactly when it will be shown, and as with many PBS series, it may air in different cities at different times and days. One thing that IS certain - be prepared for a ton of fund-raising pledge breaks in the middle of each hour!
