Revisiting - Titles NOT In The Lyrics

I know we've done this on the board's earlier version, but thought it might be worth revisiting. The most obvious of course is "Unchained Melody", but there are several other songs where the lyrics do not contain the song's title. My current favorite is John Prine's "Spanish Pipedream".

Others??

Re: Revisiting - Titles NOT In The Lyrics

I always liked Sunshine Superman by Donovan. Yes, he does refer to sunshine and he does mention Superman in the song - but never together.

Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen is another one. I have no idea how they would work that title into the song, but the lyrics are so obscure already, you think they might have found a way!

Sure, but they did something far more clever ... they put the title of the song that would take over from them at #1 in the lyrics instead. https://pop-culture.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_number-one_hits_in_the_UK_Singles_Chart_in_1976

Re: Revisiting - Titles NOT In The Lyrics

The main title of The Four Seasons' Don't You Worry 'Bout Me, Opus 17, is not heard in the song.

The original recording of "Come On Down To My Boat" by The American Breed was titled Come And
Take A Ride In My Boat. That clumsy title was not sung.

In 1977 The Brothers Johnson sang Strawberry Letter 22 in their song's lyrics, but they do not mention
the next one, Strawberry Letter 23, which was the title.

Re: Revisiting - Titles NOT In The Lyrics

Here's a little known fact: Friend and Lover's "Reach Out Of The Darkness" never uses the line, "Reach Out OF The Darkness.  Instead the lyrics, repeatedly use Reach Out IN The Darkness.  Listening to the recording, they use the word, "IN", never use "OF".

Yes ... although that song hadn't immediately come to mind, I was thinking about mentioning that I find examples like that to be particularly noteworthy because they're more obscure and unexpected. There are others, although I can't bring any to mind right now,

Re: Revisiting - Titles NOT In The Lyrics

Ok, finally came up with one ... I wanted to show that I know what I'm talking about, once in a while anyway.  In MacArthur Park, Richard Harris sings "MacArthur's Park" throughout the song.
