Creedence Clearwater Revival Book Shows They Weren't Overnight Success

Kind of an interesting article by the author of a new book on CCR, about how they formed, what influenced their early years, why they broke up so soon after finding success and what they did to create a whole new genre of rock.

It’s a Creedence Clearwater Revival revival

Hopefully the book will get it right in terms of why they broke up. John Fogerty was the creative force behind the band and the other members were sidemen. But the sidemen decided they wanted equal time in terms of songwriting and vocals The result was the disastrous Mardi Gras album which effectively killed the band because the sidemen couldn't write or sing. This didn't stop the sidemen from besmirching the band's name by hitting the road for the next 40 years  with a similarly named outfit minus John Fogerty.
