Motown’s Berry Gordy and Smokey Robinson have been chosen as the 2023 MusiCares Persons of the Year, the organization announced Thursday.
Gordy and Robinson, close friends who propelled Motown to the heights of the music world, will be honored at the Los Angeles Convention Center on Feb. 3, two days before the 65th Grammy Awards. The annual gala, a ritzy fixture of Grammy week, is the primary fundraiser for MusiCares, a nonprofit that assists artists and industry personnel in need.
