EXCLUDING the Beatles and Rolling Stones, who are your top 3 British Invasion artists (groups or individuals)? Also, add an "unsung" performer, an artist/group that may not have had much chart success but was still one of your favorites. What is your criteria for placement on the list: for example, chart success, group sound, live performance).
MY TOP THREE
THE HOLLIES
chart success/great harmonies/strong lead vocals
PETULA CLARK
chart success/classy performer
HERMAN'S HERMITS
chart success/happy pop music
MY UNSUNG PERFORMER
Sandy Shaw
great voice/quirky on-stage performance

Animals
Gerry & the Pacemakers
honorable mention Herman's Hermits for sure

Infectious songs! Great records,

Freddie and the Dreamers
Fun, soft music that I liked when I was a kid.

I'll list....
Searchers ( "Sugar And Spice" is why)
Kinks
Petula Clark
Guilty Pleasure....
Cliff Richard (I knew he was big in England, reading about him in the trade publications and wondering why he hadn't shown up in the USA yet). He had 1 Top 40 hit ("It's All In The Game") during the Invasion era but 15 years later put some great hits on the radio.

I hated the British Invasion passionately. Loved Frank Ifield, Dusty Springfield, Cilla Black and some others. Just the same as my taste here on our side of the pond. Liked the solo singers, Hated all the rest.
