Ever since I started following pop music I've taken a particular interest in comebacks, and I think Ed Ames had one of the more noteworthy ones. After having had considerable success going back to 1950 with his brothers, he came back to have a few hits as a solo artist in the late 1960s -- and of course he also began to have a significant acting career.

I saw Ed Ames in concert about two weeks after the "Tonight Show" incident and he had a great time telling the story to the audience. I met him after the show and enjoyed the short visit. He was very easy to be around. He did have the biggest hands I ever shook hands with, just as an aside.
