Blondie's Biggest Hit Was Actually A Remake From the 60s

I was never a huge fan of the group Blondie, but I liked Heart of Glass and I really enjoyed The Tide Is High, which I always thought sounded like a throwback to the 60s.

Turns out, I was right. "Tide" was a remake of a very obscure 1967 reggae-type song by a Jamaican group known as The Paragons. It's similar and yet totally different to what Debbie Harry and the group would do to it years later, but the fact it even exists was a revelation to me.

See what you think.

I always find it interesting to compare different versions of songs.

I have definitely never heard this version of "Tide Is High".  If I had to pick a favorite, I would choose Blondie's version.   Debbie Harry's vocals and the slight increase in tempo carry the day.

That song by The Paragons appears on old compilations of European hits from the 60s.
