Neil Diamond Interview From 2005 Resurfaces

It aired on NPR's highly acclaimed series "Fresh Air" and they resurrected it this week.

In the interview, Diamond remembers getting his start with Ellie Greenwich and Jeff Barry, the first big hit in Solitary Man, how he started songwriting originally for others - and to me, the highlight, Diamond singing "I'm A Believer," a song that was a smash for the Monkees. I've never heard his version before and it's really interesting to hear how the guy who wrote it interprets it.

He also explains how he wrote "Sweet Caroline" very quickly in a single night in a hotel room.

Diamond has Parkinson's now and his career is effectively over, but his story is being told in a highly acclaimed Broadway play that features his music. So you know the soundtrack is terrific!
