How Cheesecake & A 50,000 Watt Top 40 Stn. Helped Some Great Rock Hits

Full disclosure, I saw this on my local radio board, but I hope they won't mind my stealing the link because it definitely belongs here. It's the kind of story I always get a real kick out of regarding how some songs came to be heard - and then came to be hits.

It involves some tasty New York City cheesecake, a famous 50K rock and roll radio station and the drive to make songs by the Angels, the Strangeloves and The McCoys into hits. And it's told by one of the very people who lived it. I will never be able to listen to the songs by those artists again without thinking about a certain pastry.

How a few judiciously-placed slices of New York Jewish cheesecake changed the world of rock ‘n’ roll

I sent this article to my grandson who is a sophmore in high school and is taking a "History of Rock n Roll" course this semester.  Told him if he should  be assigned a research project on how hit songs came to be, this article could be quite useful.
