He's 79 years old now and just returned from a tour with The Zombies. But his days on the road appear to be over, after group founder Rod Argent suffered a stroke and was sent to hospital for several days. He says he will continue to record and contribute to the band he formed in the early 60s, but you won't likely see him on a live stage again after doctors warned it could harm his already fragile health.
Argent also had a self titled band in the 70s, which had a huge hit with "Hold Your Head Up."
In a message for fans, the people around Argent had this advice:
"If a classic artist that has made music you love is performing nearby, don’t miss the opportunity to see them.
You can sit on the couch and binge Netflix another day. The communal experience of a live performance by a veteran artist is a singular and joyous moment. These artists are treasures who have stood the test of time and are giving their all, but they are fragile human beings like all of us. Don’t miss out."
