"Time" is one of rock's classics, and The Chambers Brothers were the first predominantly Black band to go psychedelic. One thing I found curious is that the author of the piece said the song was a 1967 single, but I remember it hitting the charts in Toronto in the latter part of '68. I guess we were a little slow on the uptake.

Roman, going back even one year earlier than '67, I am partial to the '66 original version, raw, garage- psychedelic, ahead of it's time before the Summer Of Love. The band recorded it on their own dime, but Columbia rejected it at that time. Then they re-recorded it in '67.

I think that in the past I had heard about "Time" having a complicated history, but I had forgotten about this and so it was interesting to see the followup posts about it today. The Wikipedia entry for it shows three separate single releases ... I was only eight in 1968, but I think that the third release is the one that reached #10 on the CHUM Chart in the summer/fall of that year.
