Remembering the time a ‘fake’ countdown aired on American Top 40
It happened because Casey Kasem was away in Hawaii for three weeks filming a guest role on “Hawaii Five-O”. For his first week away, he recorded a show in advance that was based on AT40 staff trying to guess where the songs would be. Not surprisingly, most of the guesses didn't end up matching the actual Billboard chart.
