The man behind hits like "Everyday People," "Everybody Is A Star" and "Dance To The Music" passed from COPD. He lived a very sad existence after the hits stopped coming, becoming notoriously unreliable in the later years of his record success as he sadly sank into drug addiction. 

But there is no questioning some of the big tunes he left behind in the late 60s and early 70s.

The man born Sylvester Stewart was 82.
