Lou Christie, who placed 12 recordings on the Billboard "Hot 100", including 3 Top 10's and one #1 ("Lightning Strikes") passed away yesterday (6/18) at the age of 82 at his home in Pittsburgh, PA. The announcement came by postings on his social pages from his family. His high falsetto singing voice made him unique as he hit the charts on 8 different labels. He was featured in the famed "Doo-Wop Specials" on P.B.S. back around 1999. I enjoyed playing a few of his hits back in my radio days but my personal favorite was his last chart effort in 1974, 'Beyond The Blue Horizon". Thank you Lou for the music and the memories. R.I.P.

First Sly Stone, then Brian Wilson and now Lou Christie, all 82. Is 82 the new 27?

I enjoyed Lou Christie as a kid in the 60's
I was a fan
As an aside Paul McCartney celebrated his 83rd birthday yesterday (June 18th).
Considering all these most recent events he is lucky to still be alive

For what it's worth, James Lowe of the Blues Magoos passed away recently at 82, as well.

...and I just heard that Bad Company/Mott The Hoople guitarist Mick Ralphs has passed away, nine months shy of joining the 82 club.
