Back then, families sometimes packed up and headed off for the summer. This resulted in a number of songs that reflected the feelings of teenage angst and concern about being away from that special someone for the entire summer.
Here are a few examples. Can you add to the list?
See You In September - The Tempos / The Happenings
It Might As Well Rain Until September - Carole King
Save Your Heart For Me - Gary Lewis and The Playboys
Sealed With A Kiss - Brian Hyland

In addition to "Sealed With A Kiss", Brian Hyland had a minor hit in 1969 with "Stay And Love Me All Summer". The title might sound like it would be the opposite of this kind of song, but it actually portrays what the guy is wishing and pleading for rather than what's going to happen. Hyland was also the first artist to record "Save Your Heart For Me" in 1963, so he had at least three songs with this theme. And interestingly, Gary Lewis & the Playboys also charted with "Sealed With A Kiss" in 1968, so they had two hits with remakes of Hyland songs with this theme.
