Was Bobby Darin Really This Terrible A Human Being?
If you believe this article, Darin was an unlikable jackass who drove people away from him. But there's no doubt he left the world some memorable hit records.
Still, I hope at least some of what's recounted here isn't true.

After reading that rather interesting article about Bobby Darin, I took a look at his discography. It reminded of how diverse his music was.
I really enjoyed his rock and roll / pop tunes, especially Dream Lover and Queen of the Hop.
He lost me at the end of the 50s and into the early 60s with his move into big band and jazz type music. Songs like Mack the Knife, Won't You Come Home Bill Bailey and Clementine were songs and a musical style I couldn't relate to.
Next came a brief period of country tinged tunes, such as You're The Reason I'm Livin and 18 Yellow Roses.
Later came his brief foray into folk music, with songs like If I Were A Carpenter and The Lady Came From Baltimore.
He even gave surf music a try (although IMHO not a very good one) with a song titled Beach Ball (shown as by the City Surfers).
Unquestionably one of the singers with the most diverse catalogue of recordings that you could find anywhere.

You could call it diversity but he's got nothing on Rick Nelson and Nelson's dipping into the "Friendly Skies of Psychedelic Pop" with his cut of "Marshmallow Skies" which he co-authored with country music guitarist, James Burton.
