Groovy Grubworm

The other day I was putting some grub killer on my lawn and I thought of this song from 1969. Remarkably, and for really no good reason, I remembered the artist as well...Harlow Wilcox. I had no recollection of the melody, however, and I couldn't recall it when I played it on YouTube. It does have a pretty nifty Chet Atkins-type vibe to it, and I wonder if that was what first planted the subliminal seed in my head that eventually turned me on to country music. I'm not sure what the point of this post really is, except it's probably the first time this song has been mentioned on this board or Ron's.

Re: Groovy Grubworm

I loved that song, and it was a pretty big hit on CHUM ... it reached #8. But I didn't know anything about Wilcox, so I checked Allmusic for info on him -- but there's really nothing there other than a couple of listings for his albums. However, Wikipedia does have info about him and the song, so here it is for anyone who's interested ... and yes, I think that this is our first-ever Grubworm-related thread.

Don't muskrats feed on grubs? Packman would have jumped on this...I miss his posts.
