The Youngsters
Anyone heard of this R&B group? One of my favourite Christmas songs is 'Christmas In Jail' by Canada's Prairie Oyster. Asleep At The Wheel also covered the song, but the original was recorded by The Youngsters in 1956. I couldn't find anything about them online, except on Discogs, which indicates they were from L.A. and had a handful of other singles.

I'd never heard of them, but because I like to see if I can find anything about rather obscure artists I did some searching ... I ended up finding the following very detailed history about them.

Wow, thanks for the info. I wonder how Prairie Oyster came across the song and did a cover so close to the original arrangement.

Discogs shows that it's been included on numerous compilations, including three that were issued by Rhino. I think that there's a very good chance that Prairie Oyster could have come across it that way.
