Driving Home for Christmas singer Chris Rea dies aged 74

Right from when I first heard it, I felt that Chris Rea had come up with something very special with "Driving Home for Christmas". But one of the articles at the following link quotes him as saying, "I didn't need a Christmas song hanging around at that point. I did everything I could to get them not to release that record. Thankfully they did!" He certainly had a very accomplished career in many other respects as well.

"Driving Home For Christmas" is my favourite Christmas song tied with Merry Christmas Darling by the Carpenters. There are a couple of interesting videos on YouTube in which Chris talks about writing the song. I loved his voice and much of his other music as well. Considering the health problems he had throughout his life, it's remarkable he lived as long as he did.
